Volunteer Center of Riverside County celebrates Grandparent's Day

The Volunteer Center of Riverside County plans to celebrate Grandparent’s Day on September7 by delivering bouquets of flowers to residents of nursing care facilities. For a $25 donation, a bouquet will be delivered by an Ombudsman.

National Grandparent’s Day was first established by Marian McQuade, from West Virginia. Her primary motivation was to champion the cause of lonely elderly residents in nursing homes. This year, Grandparent’s Day falls on September 7. Residents and businesses can participate by making a donation of $25.

A $25 donation will purchase a bouquet, promote public awareness regarding the unmet needs of this at-risk population and fund further educational services and training materials. All orders must be received by August 29. Information: 951-686-4402
